History of Troop 2

Troop 2 was chartered with State Street Baptist Church in 1915 here in Rockford, IL. The troop had 37 boys at that time.

In 1924, Troop 2 moved its charter to Court Street Methodist Episcopal Church.

In 1939, the church changed to Court Street Methodist Church.

In 1951, Court Street Methodist Church burned and put the troop in limbo until Beth Eden Church (Evangelical United Brethren) was built in 1952.

In 1970, Beth Eden Church changed to Beth Eden United Methodist Church and we have a fantastic relationship to this day.

In 2010, when the Boy Scouts of America celebrate its 100th birthday, Troop 2 will celebrate 95 years.

In the last 4 years, we have been rebuilding from 5 boys and 3 adults and only camping 7 days a year. We now have 15 boys and 22 adults and average about 30 to 40 days of camping a year.

Over the next few years, we hope to increase our numbers up to 30 boys and about 30 adults, so that we can give our boys what they need.
