The American Creed

I believe in the United States of America as a government of the people, by the people, for the people. Whose just powered are derived from the consent of the governed: A democracy in a republic: A sovereign nation of many sovereign states: A perfect union, one and inseparable: Established upon those principles of freedom, Equality, justice, and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes. I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it: To support its constitution: To obey its laws to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

Some Info about Troop 2

WELCOME to the Adventure of Scouting in Troop 2! This will help you learn about Scouting, help you discover what makes Troop 2 special, and help you find answers to many of your questions. Our Scout Master, will also be glad to answer any of your questions or concerns. You are welcome to visit our activities at any time.

Troop 2 is an "Outdoor Adventure" troop. We have an exceptionally active, challenging, and far ranging outdoors program. Scouting is much more than just a wholesome and enjoyable activity. Active Scouts develop initiative, leadership, self-reliance, and self-confidence. Scouting helps boys become good citizens of strong character, who will be leaders and achievers in the adult world.

We have two permanent camp sites. One camp is in Scales Mound, IL., a 500-acre farm,  which grows corn, grapes, and beans. The farm also has cows and  sheep as well as a 3-acre stocked lake and only a 15 minute drive from the Mississippi. A great place for boys and adults as well. The other is 2-acres on the back side of a 4500-acre farm in Burrett Township northwest of Rockford on the Peck River. This is a very remote site “4 wheel drive or hike in”.

We have also been helping with the refurbishing of a cemetery that dates back to 1838 to 1878 which has been forgotten about for over 100 years. The cemetery was part of a town called Manchester, which was part of the wagon train trail towns to the west. This town despaired in the late 1880s and the cemetery was forgotten about until the past few years.

This is just some of the things that Troop 2 is doing, we have much more.

"The Official Boy Scout Handbook promises adventure and the leaders of Troop 2 deliver it."
