The Alleluia
Quartet has been presenting its unique style of four part harmony to listeners
in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin for more than twenty years. Their
music includes traditional, contemporary, gospel and country Christian and
inspirational songs. Members of the group are Jarrod Severing (tenor), Todd
Scott (lead), John Vanderheyden (baritone) and Scott Hoffman (bass).
The quartet are members
of Beth Eden United Methodist Church in Rockford, IL. They began
singing together in the early 80’s as members of the Church’s choir. After realizing
that their voice ranges and ability to blend was “more than
coincidence”, the Alleluia Quartet was formed. The name of the quartet
was taken from the well known song “Alleluia” which was the first song
that they sang together.
In response to
listeners over the twenty years, the group decided to record some of its
music. During 2002 they completed their first “release” titled New
Beginnings. The title seemed appropriate as the slogan for Beth
Eden Church is “The House of New Beginnings”, and this has been a new
beginning for the group.
In 2004, the Alleluia Quartet
released its second project: Celebrate the Child, A Christmas
Collection. Songs included are: The Virgin Mary Had A Baby Boy, In All
of His Glory, O Holy Night, and many more.
In 2009, the Quartet released its
third release titled Every Road.

The Alleluia Quarter began its music
ministry in the 1980’s from the beginning, the people of the Beth Eden
United Methodist Church, Rockford, IL. Have been fully supportive of the
Quartet and it’s ministry. To say “thank you” to the church, the
Alleluia Quartet has named its first recording New Beginnings
after the motto of the church: “The House of New Beginnings”. And, as is
appropriate, the Quartet will make a contribution to Beth Eden from the
sale of each CD and tape.
The song in New Beginnings
have been chosen to present a variety of Christian music.
Some are acappella. Some are
accompanied, some are old, some are new; but all carry the message of
God’s love through Jesus Christ.
Included in New Beginnings
are two songs with special meaning to the Alleluia Quartet.
The first is Alleluia by Paul
Mickelson. Alleluia was the first song shared by the Quartet in 1985.
When it became apparent the ministry of this Quartet would continue and
develop the group chose its name from this song. The second song with
special meaning is How Great Thou Art by Sturt K. Hine. The song, of
course, has been a favorite of Christians for many years.
The arrangement done in New
Beginnings was presented to us by one of our greatest supporters and
fans, Harold Baarstadt, Harold has since gone on to be with our Lord.
Rest in peace, Brother Harold, To you we dedicate this song,
It would be difficult to list all
those who should be thanked for their support of our ministry and the
production of this recording, But falling to mention a few would be
inappropriate, Thank you to Gregory Kaye and In-Flight Productions for
producing this recording and making us sound better than ever, To our
wives for putting up with us and many “Practice” nights. Thank you to
“The Band” and to “Choir Mom”. A special thanks you to Shirley Ann
Tudor. Beth Eden Church is very fortunate to have as its Music Minister
someone as talented and committed as Shirley Ann. The Alleluia Quartet
has been under her musical direction since it formed in 1985. She has
always encouraged us to give God our best, and that in all things, to
God be the glory.
